Types of oral contraception:
Combined pill
Hormonal contraception that contains oestrogen and progestogen. The pill prevents pregnancy by stopping the ovaries releasing an egg each month. Whilst if used correctly, it has a high efficacy rate, no method is 100 percent effective. The combined pill may also help with acne, painful or heavy periods, premenstrual syndrome, and endometriosis. Talk to your pharmacist or other healthcare professional to find out more.
Progesterone pill
Hormonal contraception that only contains progestogen. The pill prevents pregnancy by stopping the ovaries releasing an egg each month. Whilst if used correctly, it has a high efficacy rate, no method is 100 percent effective. The progesterone only pill may help with painful or heavy periods, and endometriosis. Talk to your pharmacist or other healthcare professional to find out more.
